I recently started reading Michael Pollan's "The Omnivore's Dilemma: A natural history of four meals," and it's quickly become one of the books that I make a point to talk to people about.  Here's my quick introduction to this amazing and powerful book.

As I'm sure most of you know by now, I've been learning a lot about the problems that exist in our current industrial food system model, and the implications that those practices have on us as consumers and participants in a greater system.

For some reason, whenever I'm really pushing one of my clients (which is all of the time thank you), I just can't help but have flashbacks to the old "Oops, I crapped my pants" skit from SNL.

it's always when they're getting toward the end of the set, where the "holy shit, this really hurts and I need to stop NOW" reflex kicks in.  Face scrunches up, a strange few start to gnaw on their shoulder like they came down with a sudden case of down syndrome (not P.C., I know. Forgive me), and the rest of their body starts to convulse or kick sporadically.

Never really understood the phenomenon myself, honestly.

What most people down know, however, is how this kind of pain response affects their set and exactly what they're missing out on while they're busy seizuring.

Check out this short video where I discuss exactly why it's important to stay calm, cool, and collected all the way throughout your set.

Hey guys! I just finished an awesome back workout. Been working with really high blood volume style training and it's been paying off big time.  I'm loving it so far. It's the third week of my new program that I am developing to help build strength, develop muscle tissue, and drop bodyfat and I've had some really great results from it so far.  My lifts are going up.  I'm getting leaner. The pumps are amazing, even with my very restricted diet.

As part of the fourth week of this new program, I have really been working on building up my 3 core power movements: deadlifts, squats, and bench, and part of my journey toward accomplishing this has resulted in my doing a significant amount of studying of the ways to perfect my technique in each of these lifts.  This all being said, I wanted to take a few minutes to share some of what I've learned with you.

So check out this video I just shot that breaks down the mechanics of the deadlift as well as provides a few helpful techniques to really maximize this lift in your own workouts.  Enjoy!

Range of motion is an often overlooked aspect of weight training that many beginning and intermediate lifters completely overlook, forsaking it instead for premature increases in weight and exercise progressions.
